More about our Organization:
Throughout the year UPP teams touch the lives of tens of thousands. Our trained animal-handler teams work with professionals in hospital, health facilities, shelters, schools, assisted living, memory care centers, juvenile courts and more.
What makes animal-assisted therapy unique is that animals, not humans, do the real work. Our animals have created a sense of joy and well-being for the people we serve, and the interactions are mutually beneficial for the animals and their owners/handlers.
Since 1993, UPP has focused on training, mentoring and supporting our animal-handler teams that provide animal-assisted therapy to a variety of clients throughout Utah. In 2024 our teams served over 84,000 clients, using 2400 volunteer hours statewide.
Much of our recruitment, continuing education, and training is through online resources and is also available to interested volunteers. We are working tirelessly to get new handlers trained and ready to bring comfort, love, hope and healing with their therapy animal partners.
Please help support our efforts. Thank you.
