He is remembered for his eternal positivity both on and off the court and was repeatedly noted for believing in others more than they believed in themselves. Even through all the adversity he faced in life, he never had room for excuses or negativity even up to his last days of a lengthy battle with sarcoma. Coach Marc built a strong rapport among student athletes, and his notable question “What made you smile today, kid?” was asked at the end of every academic meeting as his way of addressing, assessing, and supporting their mental health.</span></p>

The scholarship will be awarded to <span style="font-size: 12pt; color: black; position: relative; top: 0.5pt;">UW-Platteville student with an emphasis or work experience in Health and Human Performance, Psychology, or Biology (with an interest in cancer research). The student must show <span style="font-size: 12pt; color: black; position: relative; top: 0.5pt;">through their submitted applications how a positive mindset has directed them to lead a purpose-filled life, and whose life has been impacted by cancer in some direct or indirect way. </span></span></span></p>
