Let's celebrate!

Thank you for helping support the mission of the Society with your auction bid(s) and purchase. Bidding is open until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 315st. We are grateful to all the generous donors listed with each item. Please consider supporting them too.

Funds raised will support the work of the Society in the preservation, interpretion and education of Akron and Summit County local history. This includes our largest artifacts, the Perkins Stone Mansion - home of Akron and Summit County's founding family - and the John Brown House - rented home of the abolitionist who was the spark for the U.S. Civil War bringing about the end of slavery in the United States, extensive photo collections and three-dimensional pieces on display throughout the community.

Seven women of the Cuyahoga-Portage Chapter of the DAR signed the incorporation papers on July 12, 1924, forming the Summit County Historical Society of Akron, OH, in anticipation of Akron's 1925 Centennial. Today, we celebrate the Society's Centennial!

The County of Summit Executive Ilene Shapiro is the Presenting Sponsor of the Society Centennial Celebration.
