Desert Voices singers captured by Tucson Photographer Jimmer O'Rourke
Help these little monsters have more concerts with Desert Voices.
Desert Voices is Tucson's LBGTQ+ and allied non-profit chorus. They have been at it for 36 years and hoping for at least 36 more! The chorus has winter and spring concerts every year and also participates in bringing beautiful voices to other events all year long. The Chorus opperates off of donations, grants, and ticket sales. Running a chorus takes a lot. Desert Voices employs an artistic director, assistant direct, pianist, and other musicians at concert time. Desert Voices also employs a director of operations. The chorus works very hard to pay the staff fairly for their time and also cover music, rehearsal space, and concert space costs. It takes a lot to make the magic happen!
Divinely Monstrous Studio is the work of Rae Strozzo. They are a Tucson based artist and a member of Desert Voices. Divinely Monstrous Studio creates these stuffed critters to raise money for good causes.
These monsters are hand made and hand painted. The socks are acrylic blends. The stuffing is both acrylic blend and rice. The larger monsters have magentic paws to hold the sewn and laminated accesories.
Desert Voices tickets are $25 a person. But they offer free seats for youth 18 and under. They also offer free seating to students of any age with ID. So in the auction, you will also find a place to donate the amount of a ticket price (or a custom amount) if you would like to donate rather than bid, or both!
