KCSL's Red Stocking Breakfast | KC Metro
A benefit for Kansas Children's Service League
Help us prevent child abuse and neglect! Kansas Children’s Service League (KCSL) is holding a silent auction in conjunction with our signature fundraising event, Red Stocking Breakfast Kansas City. All proceeds will help support KCSL’s Johnson, Miami, Leavenworth and Wyandotte Counties prevention and education programs.
Red Stocking Breakfast offers a family-friendly holiday atmosphere while benefiting our Kansas City-area early childhood home visitation program and the families served.
About Kansas Children's Service League
Stronger families start at Kansas Children’s Service League (KCSL). Founded in 1893, KCSL is a statewide, nonprofit agency that serves thousands of Kansas children and families each year. KCSL’s mission is to protect and promote the well-being of children. Our programs work with children and families in the areas of health, safety and education to succeed and break cycles of neglect, abuse and trauma. We help both children and parents develop skills for success in their families, schools and workplaces. KCSL is also the Kansas chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America and Circle of Parents. About KCSL's Red Stocking Breakfast
The Breakfast is a continuance of a holiday giving tradition to KCSL that started over 100 years ago. In the 1920s, the community made holiday gifts for children living at KCSL’s receiving home, a temporary residence for children awaiting a foster or adoptive home. These children would hang their “little red stockings” in anticipation of the generosity of the community.
This will be KCSL’s 19th Red Stocking Breakfast in the Kansas City-area to raise money for important programs and services that support children and families. Our event will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue, 9520 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park. The Breakfast features a delicious breakfast buffet prepared by Jack Stack Barbecue. Local celebrity servers tend to patrons by serving drinks. Join us and support child abuse and neglect prevention services in Johnson, Miami, Wyandotte and Leavenworth Counties!
