In honor of National Adoption Month this November, the Manatee County Foster & Adoptive Parent Association, a 501 C 3 organization (Tax ID: 65-0869643) will be holding an Online Auction to help provide Support and Programs to local foster and adoptive families. Manatee County FAPA serves foster and adoptive families in Florida’s Twelfth Judicial Circuit, which is comprised of Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto Counties.
Did you know that there are over 5,000 children in foster care in the State of Florida that are eligible for adoption? While the goal of foster care is reunification with family, that is not always possible. When children are unable to be reunified, there is a need for families in our State to step up to become Forever Families. We will take time during National Adoption Month to help highlight the need for Adoptive Families for children already legally freed for adoption, as well as to highlight some of the amazing adoptive families that our Association serves.
This year, our auction proceeds will benefit our current Programs and Services for local foster and adoptive families, which include our Welcome Bags for Foster Children, Adoption Congratulations Packages, Monthly Trainings, Back to School Bash and Holiday Celebration. In addition, in Partnership with Family Initiative we hope in the coming year to begin a Kids Night Out for local adopted children. As costs rise for goods and services, our small non-profit has been significantly impacted, especially in terms of the cost for our storage units. We want to continue to offer these supports and more, but need to raise even more funds to be able to do so. Our goal is to raise $10,000 in this year’s event to help cover the increased costs of administering our programs over the next year.
