A Light in Dark Places breaks down stigma surrounding the topic of suicide by using the performing arts to enourage healthy discussion, create community, and offer hope to those affected.
This September marks our 10th annual “Plays for Hope” series at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood. Over two weekends, we present five original short plays—each followed by a Q&A with mental health professionals and a reception to further connection and community. The Plays for Hope series has also been performed in Dallas multiple times, helping us bring these vital conversations to even more communities.
We’ve recently expanded our impact with an interview series (launching in May), one-night performances (cabaret, stand-up, dance), and our first short film, which is entering the festival circuit this year and will soon be available to all online.
With every event, we prioritize safe messaging and include resources from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and mental health professionals.
To support Mental Health Awareness Month this May, we’re hosting an online auction, and I’m reaching out to ask if you’d consider donating an item or experience to help us raise funds.
