HALO Havanese Rescue 2026 Auction

HALO Havanese Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based nonprofit with no offices, no facility, and no paid staff. Almost every dollar we raise goes directly toward veterinary care for the dogs who come to us.

This year, one very special little dog shows exactly why this auction matters.

Jesse came to HALO in August 2025 at just five months old and under four pounds. He was surrendered as “blind,” but we soon discovered his medical needs were far more complex.

Jesse has hydrocephalus, along with neurological, vision, dental, and digestive problems. He has required extensive dental surgery, hospitalization at the Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital, and ongoing care from multiple specialists.

His challenges affect how he sees, moves, eats, and gains weight. Yet Jesse remains clever, curious, determined, and full of joy. He loves belly rubs, exploring the yard, car rides, and following his fur-siblings.

HALO thought we were rescuing a blind puppy. Instead, we welcomed a little dog who will need lifelong specialized care.

Because of fundraising efforts like this auction, HALO can make medical decisions based on quality of life, not cost. Our first question is always:

“What is the best course of care for this dog?”

They may need surgery, specialty care, extensive dental work, or months of treatment. Whatever they need, we want to be able to say YES
