Description
Explore the wild beauty of Kachemak Bay on this small group boat tour departing from Homer Harbor. This 3.5-hour experience travels across the bay into Kachemak Bay State Park, a remote and protected area accessible only by boat or seaplane. The trip begins at Gull Island, a lively seabird rookery where thousands of birds fill the air with movement and sound. Watch for black-legged kittiwakes, common murres, puffins, and more, along with sea otters, harbor seals, and porpoises in the surrounding waters. From there, continue to Peterson Bay to visit a working oyster farm and learn how oysters are grown in Alaska’s coastal waters. This area also offers excellent wildlife viewing, including bald eagles, otters, seals, and a variety of seabirds. The tour finishes with a stop in Halibut Cove, a quiet and scenic community known for its art and history. Stretch your legs with a guided walk on Ismailof Island and take in the views.
