Description
This pair of Adirondack Chairs will be built by the Carpentry Students at Plymouth South High School. This course of study offers students the opportunity to develop skills in the use of hand and power tools commonly used in the building trades. Emphasis is placed on identifying and applying OSHA health and safety regulations and following practices used to avoid on-the-job accidents. Students begin by learning the use of stationary power equipment and portable tools on various small projects. The program focuses on the skills required for residential construction. This includes going off-campus to build full-scale projects. Topics include building code, floor, wall and roof framing, exterior finish and interior finish. In the process, the students learn to read and draw plans and to prepare stock lists. The minimum bid of $150 covers the building cost to the Rotary Club.
