Description
This attractive plaquette was created in 2009 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln cent, first released in 1909. The obverse features the iconic bust of Abraham Lincoln, as originally conceived by Victor D. Brenner in 1907. The reverse shows Brenner at work, adapted from a photograph from The Art of the Medal, Brenners 1910 publication on medallic production. Along with a ghostly image of Lincoln, the reverse includes a quote by Brenner reproduced in many newspapers as the Lincoln cent was released, "My mind was full of Lincoln." With the end of penny production behind us, make this medal a cherished part of your one-cent collection. * Following the auction, winners will receive an invoice for their winning bid and shipping costs.
