Description
4 Ball At Selkirk Golf Club
Situated around 30 miles from the Scottish border, you’ll find what the locals call “a wee gem” of a golf course. If you are heading to Scotland on a golfing holiday, don’t overlook the challenging and scenic 9-hole Selkirk golf club.
Selkirk has one of the best 9 hole golf courses in Scotland. Selkirk’s most famous member was the late Dick Smith, who loved to practice on the Selkirk greens. The former Scottish Amateur, Walker Cup, and multi-international Champion praised the underrated and relatively undiscovered course.
The Selkirk golf club was built in 1924 by Willie Park. Jnr. Park was a legendary golf course architect responsible for over 170 courses spanning the UK, US, and Canada. The nine-hole course overlooks the nearby town of Selkirk and provides golfers with breathtaking views of the Linglie Hills and the sweeping hills of Ettrick and Yarrow.
The course will provide a challenge for players of all handicaps. You’ll need to stay focused to avoid hitting balls into the nearby gorse. The No. 8 hole is known as the “Long Hole.” You need to make two excellent shots to give yourself a short approach to the green, hidden by mounds of heather.
