Description

From local artist, Karen Storey, "Angel of Love" is an original acrylic painting on canvas framed in a maroon and gold scroll frame measuring 25.5" x 18". Do you find yourself using the word “LOVE” loosely in conversation with someone? I know I do. I say something like this: “Oh, I LOVE that outfit you are wearing! Oh, I LOVE the flowers you gave me. Oh, I love your choice of words, furniture, kitchen, etc.” I am so guilty of using this word LOVE for so many things, not focusing at all on the people. Today, while in prayer, I was provoked to check out the definition of “LOVE”. Since Webster Dictionary has been in publication and trusted by schools for so long, naturally I turned to his dictionary. Webster uses the words: “to cherish”. For me Helen Keller states it best when she describes “LOVE” - “The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” (azquotes.com) This would belie that “LOVE is an action word”, as it describes feeling”. May this painting “Angel of Love” remind you to extend love to others each day. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts. Karen Storey is a retired educator and local artist that resides in Winston-Salem, NC.  Her artist inspiration comes from nature and through meditative prayer. Most of her paintings are tied to Bible scriptures. As she mediates and prays certain images come to her that help guide her creative process.
