Antique Minton wash basin and pitcher set donated by McNikks Thrifts & More

A beautiful piece of English history, this antique Minton wash basin and pitcher set reflects an era when elegant ceramic wash sets were an essential part of well-appointed bedrooms, long before modern indoor plumbing became commonplace. Made in England, the matching pitcher and large basin feature intricate blue-and-white transferware with wonderfully detailed scenes of countryside, architecture, trees and flowers, surrounded by elaborate floral borders. The graceful shape of the pitcher and generous proportions of the basin make the set particularly impressive when displayed together. Minton is one of the historic names in English pottery, with roots dating back to the late 18th century. Today, pieces such as this are appreciated not only for their history, but also for the remarkable craftsmanship and decorative detail that went into everyday household objects of the period. A wonderful conversation piece and a beautiful addition to a collection, traditional home, country décor or antique display!
