Materials: oil paint Bio: I am an oil painter, working from life. The act of observation and an admiration for the raw materials of paint are vital to my practice. See more of my work at: www.ashleyzipp.com. Statement: The shape and concavity of the bowl reminded me of a dimly lit vignette or cave. I choose to paint an intimate still life lit by candlelight, where the scene could fade into the back and into the dark edges around. I painted with oil earth pigments. Throughout different times in my life I have both volunteered and benefited from a local food pantry. No one should go hungry. We all have to pitch in. I am glad to support AIO's work feeding our neighbors and providing an inviting place for anyone in need.
