Materials: acrylic paint over a gessoed surface Statement: I choose to paint a wood stove this year, as a metaphor for hearth and home. This metaphor invites and welcomes healthier homes and living and food and warmth for those in need. When first visiting the new AIO food pantry facility, I was struck by what a complete and respectful place it was for people to shop for their food. The displays are tasteful and inviting, and they also encourage healthy nutrition. Thank you AIO and ArtFeeds. BIO: Barbara Sullivan is a painter and installation artist living in Mid-Coast Maine. She works in the age–old medium of fresco, which she learned when she was the head cook at The Skowhegan School of Sculpture and Painting. Sullivan’s bas-relief fresco objects depict and float between domesticity and the natural world. Sullivan holds a BA in Art and Creative Writing and an MFA. She taught drawing and painting foundations and sculpture at The University of Maine at Farmington for 22 years.
