Bat House - Lilly of the Valley Design

Interested in understanding more about bats? Or maybe you have too many mosquitoes at home? Bats can help! Enjoy a hand-painted bat house (by local high school student and volunteer Ele Kupetz)and watch in the evenings as bats, the insect-eating machines, move in and help with natural pest control! Bats eat up to half their weight in insects every evening! While vast areas of intact nature make the best homes for bats, loss of natural habitat threatens bats in many parts of the world, and strategies to support bats with additional foraging and roosting opportunities can be helpful. You can help support New Hampshire’s eight native bat species by providing them with a safe place to shelter in your new bat house, along with planting native vegetation that creates roosting habitat and gives diverse insects a place to grow into the perfect meal. https://www.batcon.org/about-bats/bat-house-guidelines/
