Bobbie Oliver, "Galilee" Acrylic on canvas 10 x 10 inches Artist Bio: Born in Canada, Bobbie Oliver lives and works in New York and Callicoon, NY. She has exhibited her work at High Noon Gallery, Hionas Gallery, Feature Gallery, Olga Korper Gallery, NY and Jancar Gallery, LA. She recently had a show at 499 Park Avenue Lobby Gallery. She has received grants from The Canada Council, The Ontario Arts Council, The New York State Council for the Arts and The Pollock/Krasner Foundation. She worked for the sculptor, Isamu Noguchi and then taught at Princeton and RISD where she was a professor in the Painting Department and Dept. Head between 2004-6. Artist Statement: This painting was inspired by working outside under a car-port in Galilee, PA where the light was beautiful and there were hydrangeas nearby. I felt like I was competing a bit with nature to make the painting have vibrancy and a life of its own.
