Description

This hand-made bronze necklace with a peyote stitch will add a striking accent to any casual or evening wear. First shown at Kentucky Museum of Arts and Crafts (KMAC), the peyote stitch technique in this unique piece has a rich history spanning centuries. It is deeply rooted in indigenous North and Central American cultures. Historically, it was used by the Huichol people of Mexico and Plains tribes like the Lakota Sioux and Cheyenne for beadwork, tribal regalia, and storytelling. Many bead weavers today, find peyote stitching to be a relaxing and meditative craft because you can incorporate precise grids and you can create intricate designs ranging from simple chevrons, to lifelike pictorial patterns.
