Materials: oil paint, brushes and shellac Bio: After many years of going to galleries and seeing painters on the rocks, I took a leap of faith and said " I want to do that!" With no background in art, I I decided to study classical drawing and oil painting. At the same time, I had the delightful opportunity to study with several of Maine’s gifted pleine air painters. I have been obsessed ever since! Statement: I am honored to be included in this show and support the AIO. Food access and equity is a profound issue in our country and our local community, especially now. AIO is such a welcoming and essential part of our Rockland, and I appreciate its partnership with the craftsmen at the prison workshop. These are trying times, and ones that definitely call to mind the saying “ when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. Classical and contemporary painters have always painted lemons. There is something about the shape and shades, the beauty and asymmetry of a cluster of lemons, that is soothing. Our kids live in CA and have a lovely lemon tree in their backyard which inspired this bowl. Lots of lemonade happening there!
