Description
Loudon County, VA. 11x14". This handsome stone barn has deep roots, tracing from the MacGregor clans in Scotland to the British colony of Virginia. Thomas Gregg founded the Silver Linden Farm in 1744 and built this stone barn a year later, which makes it possibly the oldest existing stone barn in the country. His wife Hannah and he were farmers as were their three sons, Thomas, John, and William. They trace back originally to Scotland; Gregg is a derivation of Gregor and MacGregor. This painting can be seen at the Morgan County Historical Society, located in McConnelsville, Oh. Call with questions 740 962-4785
