Materials: Gesso and acrylic paint as an underpainting and then oils for the main painting. Statement: The piece was inspired by a scene I photographed on Hosmer pond in Camden that stuck with me because of the surprising number of swallowtail butterflies all lined up together looking like a peaceful little community. It was such an unexpected image, and it’s in these quick beautiful moments that I find most inspiration. As a high school student in Camden with a profound love for the arts, I can’t imagine a more vibrant and supportive network of artists than those who live around the Midcoast. I think ArtFeeds is an amazing opportunity to connect artists with AIO’s efforts to provide for our community, and I am deeply honored to be a part of the project!
