Sobre a artista:
Cristina Sampaio licenciou-se em pintura, mas sempre preferiu a área da ilustração e do desenho satírico. A partir de 1986 os seus cartoons são publicados em revistas e jornais, nacionais e internacionais. Merecem destaque Expresso e Público, Courrier International e Alternatives Economiques (França), Kleine Zeitung (Aústria), The Boston Globe e The New York Times (EUA). Está representada em inúmeras publicações colectivas de ilustração e de cartoon. Integrada no colectivo Spam Cartoon, realiza curtas de animação de comentário político para o canal televisivo RTP3. É detentora de diversos prémios, com destaque para o Prémio Stuart de Desenho de Imprensa na categoria de melhor cartoon em 2006 e 2010; o 1º prémio na categoria de cartoon editorial do World Press Cartoon em 2007, onde também recebeu menções honrosas em 2009, 2015, 2021 e 2022; o 2º prémio Libex, Itália, 2022. Em 2023 foi distinguida com uma menção honrosa do World Press Freedom Canada.

About the artist: 
Cristina Sampaio graduated in painting, but always preferred illustration and satirical drawing. Since 1986, her cartoons have been published in national and international magazines and newspapers. Of particular note are Expresso and Público, Courrier International and Alternatives Economiques (France), Kleine Zeitung (Austria), The Boston Globe and The New York Times (USA). She is represented in numerous collective illustration and cartoon publications. Part of the Spam Cartoon collective, she makes political commentary animation shorts for the television channel RTP3. It has won several awards, most notably the Stuart Press Drawing Award in the best cartoon category in 2006 and 2010; 1st prize in the World Press Cartoon editorial cartoon category in 2007, where she also received honorable mentions in 2009, 2015, 2021 and 2022; the 2nd Libex award, Italy, 2022. In 2023 she was awarded an honorable mention by World Press Freedom Canada.
