Dancing Pots

Description

As a dancer and a ceramic artist, I enjoy the relational practice of working with and listening to the clay, being with the clays dance. I also believe that our objects hold intention, and that the emotions and energy we pour into the making of objects have the ability to manifest and alter the objects integrity. I am offering 2-4 (depending on size) custom made bowls or cups that will be fired in the wood fired kiln. Together we will discuss what shapes, textures, and intentions you wish to be expressed in each vessle. Perhaps it's a round bowl intended to bring comfort or soothe when sad, or an "I forgive myself cup" for when you are being hard on yourself, or maybe three little tea cups that pray for peace. Firing in the wood fired kiln is collective and durational practice that is highly unpredictable. To me, it is a ritual practice that invites one to let go of control and embrace the elements of fire and all it can transform. If you are interested in very colorful, clean, and shiny pots, then perhaps these are not for you. If you are interested in co-creating with me in the process of altering matter and praying to the flames, of drinking and eating from these prayers, then these vessels await you!
