Douglas Smith

Materials: Acrylic gesso on the inside of the bowl and acrylic paint for the decoration. The underside of the bowl has on layer of shellac and is finished with a wood oil paste wax. Bio: Douglas Smith has lived in Maine since 2004. He has traveled widely painting in Europe, Alaska, Mexico, Russia, and the United States. This is the second year Smith has contributed to the AIO Art Feeds event. Statement: Painting this still-life in a bowl was a treat. I was not sure how it would turn out, but the result is surprising and very colorful. I wanted something that would grab the attention by means of vibrant color so the objects were placed on a dishcloth decorated with variations of tomatoes, whole and sliced. 2025 is my second year contributing to the worthy cause of AIO - Art Feeds for the greater good of the community.
