Description
These environmentally friendly bird boxes are made with loving care from resourced materials including weathered cedar barn board, standard-sized license plates, mahogany, plywood and nylon venetian blind cord. The 1-1/2” diameter entrance is ideal for the Eastern Bluebird (and Tree Swallow). Position the nesting box on a post or pole in an open area, such as a meadow, field, or back yard, with the entrance hole facing east. One side of the box is hinged allowing access to the old nest that should be cleaned out as soon as a brood fledges so that the box can be used for a second nesting attempt. The Eastern Bluebird feasts on ground-dwelling insects including beetles, crickets, grasshoppers and caterpillars. They also eat fruit and berries.
