Description
Sesame Street Magazine & Original Pencil Sketch and Painting by Tom Leigh
Some artists draw Big Bird from a studio in New York. Tom Leigh draws him from right here on Little Deer Isle. A longtime illustrator for Sesame Street and the Muppets since the 1970s, Leigh spent decades bringing Bert, Ernie, Elmo, Grover, Cookie Monster, and the rest of the gang to life — including the majority of Sesame Street Magazine's covers throughout the 1990s. His work has appeared in dozens of Sesame Street books, and pieces from his career now hang in museum collections celebrating the magazine's legacy.
This lot includes 2 original pieces of his artwork, the sketch and first painting alongside the finished 1995 copy of Sesame Street Magazine, generously donated by Leigh himself — a rare chance to own a piece of Sesame Street history from an artist who calls this island home. All 3 of these ORIGINAL pieces are signed by the artist.
Have a kid who loves Sesame Street? Or are you that kid? Either way, this one's worth a bid. This is an incredible opportunity to give or own a piece of historic memorabilia!

If you see an item that you love, you can set it up so that you can bid on it without having to check in frequently to do so. You just list the maximum amount that you're willing to pay for an item and the site will keep your bid active, meaning if someone likes the same item and bids on it against you, the site will increase your bid (by the preset dollar increment) and keep bidding on your behalf up to the maximum amount. If you get outbid, you will be sent an email and notified, so that you have the opportunity to increase your bid and not lose the item. If you prefer you can contact us and we'll have a staff member track your desired item and bid for it on your behalf. They will only bid up to the maximum predetermined amount that you set.
