Valerie and Alethia Erwin ran Geechee Girl Rice Cafe for 12 years as a tribute the Geechees, descendants of the enslaved Africans who live in the Low country--the coast and islands off South Carolina and Georgia. Both sets of their grandparents hale from that region. This four course meal will feature dishes that honor the foodways of the Geechee. Learn about the history of the Geechee through The Low Country Dinner. The menu will be decided in consultation with the client and served at the Erwin home in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.
