Description

We think of Africa—apart from its Mediterranean coast—as a country, but it’s far more than that. It’s a continent of stark contrasts, over fifty countries, countless ethnic groups, and more human diversity than any other continent. We start with the question "Why are there so many more game parks in Africa than on other continents?" In search of an answer, we look at the soils, climates, flora and fauna, and human migrations across the continent. Much of the presentation will be based on the presenter’s experiences traveling through Africa, but this is no travelogue. Steve can present a mix of topics within this vast area depending on the attendees' interests. Presentation will be 60 minutes with a 30 minute question and answer period. Up to 10 attendees. Date and time to be mutually arranged upon with Steve Law. Steve has experience in research methods, having earned a Ph.D. degree in philosophy. In the late 1970s he traveled overland from the Mediterranean to Cape Town over the course of six months, and in 2025 he traveled for seven weeks overland from Zanzibar to South Africa’s southern coast.
