LOCAL PICKUP ONLY --
Quilling, also known as paper filigree, is the intricate art of rolling, curling, shaping and arranging narrow strips of paper to create decorative designs.
This beautiful piece was handcrafted by Dr. Lisa Floyd, an accredited member of the UK-based Quilling Guild, using a variety of quilling techniques and paper widths. A male and female cardinal are perched among delicate dogwood branches, with each bird requiring approximately three days to create and the branch another three days — representing roughly nine days of meticulous handwork.
The design is especially fitting for our region: the cardinal is the state bird of both North Carolina and Virginia, while the dogwood is the state flower of both states.
A truly unique, handcrafted work of paper art.
