Description
The pattern on the top is called leaping fish. All of the wood is salvage from other people’s cast offs. The rosewood in the main body is from restoration work of a very old chapel, the yew in the bottom is almost impossible to obtain anymore as its bark is protected. It contains a drug known as taxanol used in cancer treatments. The hinge system is spring loaded, if you look closely there are tiny slots where you can push the hinge aside and remove the lid. Crafted by the talented local artisan Christopher Joyce, this piece showcases exceptional craftsmanship. This small box is 7.5" in diameter and 3" tall. Features an attached lid with carved swirls on the top. This unique piece is not only functional but also a beautiful addition to any home decor. The inside of the bowl features a smooth, turned design that highlights the natural grain of the wood, while the outside is textured and adds an element of sophistication and practicality. Perfect for storing small items or as an eye-catching display piece, this piece is a testament to Christopher Joyce's dedication to artistry and quality. Don't miss the opportunity to own this charming and versatile item!
Christopher Joyce is incredibly talented. His inspiration for this piece and all of his work is a love for wood and all its unique features. A Stonington native and self-taught wood turner, Chris's wooden works are a melding of fascinating design and expert craftsmanship.
