Turned on a lathe from cherry wood by a master woodworker and then embellished with wood burnings and permanent India inks. The house is made to withstand the elements when placed in a protected area and brought in each winter where they make excellent Christmas Tree ornaments. The house is small at approximately five inches high and two inches wide and while they cannot guarantee that a bird will take up residence in the home you purchase, they include an instruction sheet on care and hanging. Gary is an accountant turned self-trained fine craftsman. He has been published in Woodturning Monthly Magazine and has been invited to teach at craft schools around the state. He is a member of Western NC Woodturners club. His work has been featured in gallery shows for the past several years. Amber, his daughter, is a professionally trained artist and art teacher. Her work spans mediums with a focus on woodwork. Their team includes supportive spouses, a second daughter who is a guest artist and two grandchildren and pets who are all eager shop helpers. Amber and Gary have been collaborating on creative endeavors since Amber was old enough to hold a pencil, although Gary says that she has taught him everything he knows about art.
