Ileana Appleton Foster

Bio: Ileana Appleton Foster (b. 1984) is a graphic designer and visual artist based in Midcoast, Maine. She received her BA in Visual Arts & Communications from Franklin University Switzerland in Lugano, and studied an additional two years of art at Ceruleum/IPAC Ecole de Design in Geneva, Switzerland. Her passion for design drives the development of her own visual expression. Ileana's printmaking uses a combination of embossing and chine collé, pressed paper. Influenced by our local ecosystem and the surrounding islands and archipelagos, she uses barks, foliage, organic shapes, and landforms to inspire her prints. Statement: It's been an honor to participate in the ArtFeeds event for AIO. AIO is such a strong local force that helps those in need get the assistance they deserve. We have a fantastic art community here in the Midcoast—it's been such an effective way to raise awareness. Contributing my embossing + collage work to the cause is a wonderful feeling.
