The painting "Le Champs Élysées" was inspired by a nostalgic visit to Canoe by artist and alum Deb Mellom, over 40 years after her experience as camper and counselor in the late 70s - early 80s. "I meandered up and down this route so many times! Walking past Mal Maison and La Cave again with the late afternoon sun shining through the trees felt like home."  This acrylic painting is 12" x 12" in a natural wood frame. 

Deb Mellom is a graphic designer and painter residing on Maui’s south side. Deb honors her creative practices in design and painting as effective forms of visual communication as well as healthy avenues for expressing human reactions to life’s joys and challenges. Her creative work is found on sales and print collateral for a variety of Destination Hyatt resorts on Maui.

Her abstract approach to painting is somewhat of an escape – what started as a break from offices and computer screens turned into a world of playfulness and exploration. Deb’s paintings show her curiosity about how mood can be affected by the environment, and the beauty of Maui’s underlying ‘glow,’
