Description
Instruction for 1-2 people on the joys of mushroom foraging and cultivating. You'll learn how to identify common edible mushrooms in our area, where to find them, and how to cook and preserve them. This experience will also include techniques for outdoor cultivation of shiitakes, oyster mushrooms, chicken of the woods, and lion's mane. We will review the various methods, including the types of spawn, substrate, and supplies needed. Bring some fresh oak logs and go home with your own inoculated shiitake logs!
Hosted by Jen Long and Chris Lage, who are both biology professors at the University of Maine, Augusta, and big-time mycophiles. The instruction will take place at their home in Waldoboro and will likely take 3-4 hours. Winning bidder will contact instructor to find a suitable date.
