Medium: Acrylic/water based/exterior paint with a finish

Description: Inspired by research on the history of the 1925 relay including historical figures Dr. Curtis Welch, along with mushers Leonhard Seppala and Gunnar Kaasen, accompanied by their legendary sled dog teams led by Balto, Togo and Fox. Included are symbols of the life-saving medicine, tools and the microscopic bacteria of the disease. The background is a blizzard and landscape of what the heroes endured and survived to save others.

About the artist: Dawn Crandall always loved to draw and paint. Despite being born with a visual impairment, surgery and therapy corrected that, allowing me to embark on a wonderful career in art for over 25 years. She has lived in Alaska since 1985. Educated at Moore college of Art & Design, in Philadelphia, PA. She worked in Alaska as Art director, newspaper staff artist, graphic designer, educator, art teacher and consultant. Recent client was the 1% for public Art municipality of Anchorage & SWS. She does both traditional and digital art as a freelance artist.

The dogs are approximately 43 inches long and 19 inches tall are cut out of ½ inch, AC plywood.

Running Puppies 19 inches long and 13 inches tall are cut out of ½ inch, AC plywood.

Sitting Puppies 15 inches long and 14 inches tall are cut out of ½ inch, AC plywood.

The successful bidder can pick up their dog at the Fur Rondy Store, 400 D Street, suite 110 on 4th and D street between March 13th - 15th. 

If you need them shipped contact us with the destination you want them shipped to and we will contact you with the packaging and shipping cost.  Once we receive that payment we will ship them to you.
