These beautiful Old Tin Roof Earrings are handcrafted in Mayo, Yukon, Canada, by Yukon jewellery artist Esther Winter, who has been creating handcrafted jewellery since 1995. Part of Esther’s Old Tin Roof Collection, these earrings combine repurposed antique tin with copper to create a beautiful, rustic and distinctive design. The earwires are hypoallergenic, making them a great choice for those with sensitive ears. The story behind the tin is what makes this pair truly special. The antique tin originally came from a four-gallon Imperial Gasoline can dating back to the 1920s. The can was flattened and repurposed as the roof of a log cabin. Years later, when the cabin had to be dismantled because it was leaning precariously, Esther saved the old tin roof and gave it a second life as this unique jewellery. The collection represents two generations of repurposing - the 1920s tin became a cabin roof, and in 2010 it was repurposed again into jewellery.
