Description
“Birgit is the most effective and reliable trainer I have ever had the pleasure to work with.” — AnMarie R. Having a dog should be a joyous experience. Helping people, with and without dogs, is my passion. My first profession was as a social worker, providing practical and psychological support to troubled people. Then, inspired by a wonderful relationship with my dog, Kika, I decided to change careers to combine my appreciation for dogs with my knowledge of psychology: I became a dog trainer whose purpose is to help people develop the best quality relationship with their dogs. By helping people understand the psychology of their dogs and also providing straightforward training techniques, I pave a way for both dog owner and dog to live in harmony. To understand a dog’s perspective and motivation helps to simplify teaching polite behavior and timely responses. The dog feels safer, becomes calmer, and understands what is expected. This leads to a more joyous experience for the dog owner. This is for one hour dog training consultation in Berkeley or within 5-10 miles of Berkeley. If an in-person meeting seems impractical, she will be available via phone. Bring your questions and concerns to discuss and get advice on strategies how to improve your dog's behavior with the help of an experienced dog trainer. Private dog trainer with over 20 years of experience teaching young and old, small and large dogs. Positive reinforcement/science based techniques only. Teaching Urban Lifeskills to all dogs. Young or old. Confident or fearful. Troubled or happy-go-lucky. Connect with your dog and breathe easy again!
Additional Information
Our mission is to improve the lives of all domestic and out in the wild animals in our county! Advocates of Contra Costa County is a group that urgently formed in 2024 in response to the rising numbers of animals placed on euthanasia lists in Contra Costa County and the policies that don't go far enough to provide resources for the shelters or rescues working hard to keep our furry friends free from harm. AACCC serves as a hub to help rescue groups and volunteers, do outreach in the community as well as advocacy work educating the community and elected officials of the important needs of our county animals. We’re optimistic that all these efforts are making a huge impact on the animals but it takes time, perseverance, and of course, funding. This auction and fundraiser will be raising funds to support spay and neuter efforts of two non-profits in the county who are dedicated to helping the community. Stitch in Time Animal Rescue (STAR), a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing medical intervention to injured or sick animals and saving them from neglect, abuse, preventable suffering, and unjustified euthanasia. Since its founding in 2018, STAR has provided rigorous evaluation, medical care, fostering, and adoption, STAR does everything within its power to ensure that these animals receive the compassion and futures they deserve. Community Concern 4 Cats (CC4C) is an all-volunteer cat rescue making a difference in Contra Costa County, California. They are the life line for fostering, adopting, or and spay and neuter. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue organization. In the past year alone, Community Concern for Cats helped over 1,300 cats and kittens find loving homes, provided spay/neuter services for 3,300 cats, and delivered medical care to thousands of cats and kittens. The silent auction is online from November 11, 2025 starting at 11:00 a.m. and ending December 12, 2025 at 12:00 am.
