Description

Add some whimsy and wanderlust to your home with this stunning original painting by artist Mary Robertson! Mary Robertson was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has lived throughout Canada and presently resides in Québec City in the winter and Prince Edward Island in the summer. She is a graduate of Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario and McGill University in Montreal, Québec. Mary painted as a teenager when she lived near Morin Heights, Québec, but did not seriously pursue her painting until she worked under the direction of Thomas Tynan. She has exhibited her works primarily in the Quebec City area, Montréal, and Prince Edward Island. She has had solo and group exhibitions throughout her career and continues to be invited to share her work in various galleries. She has taught painting at the St. Lawrence Campus of Champlain Regional College in Ste-Foy, Québec, the P.E.I. School of the Arts, and the PEI Seniors College. Mary also gives private acrylic courses and workshops. She was one of the five members of the Group on Brackley Bay who founded and operated Howes Hall Gallery, from 2009 until 2013. The goal of Mary's work is to explore and give voice to the contrasting and complementary textures, colours, compositions and rhythms of her environment. Her interpretations transcend the ordinary with her frequent use of various media and metallic pigments. On the picture plane she transposes the organic elements so that they intermingle and flow into the realm of intricate movement enhanced by unique textures, unexpected hues and compelling luminosity. Since 2002, Mary has researched the use of acrylic sheet as a surface for her work and continues to experiment with this medium. INCLUDES: One original 30" x 40" painting, acrylic on acrylic on canvas.
