You’ll learn to skipper and crew a 25-foot sloop-rigged keelboat by day in light to moderate wind and sea conditions, all within familiar waters. This comprehensive course blends classroom learning with hands-on, on-the-water instruction led by experienced sailors. With a class size of no more than 4 students, you’ll receive personalized guidance as you build your skills and confidence. Course topics include: Getting Underway Docking & Securing the Boat Boat Balance & Controlling Angle of Heel Points of Sail Tacking & Jibing Sail Trim Heaving-To Reefing Crew Overboard Drill Buoyage, Basic Navigation, Seamanship Helm Commands, Parts & Functions Written Exam This certificate is valid through 12/31/2026, and there will be multiple course dates to choose from once the new schedule is released in February. Pick-up/Delivery Information Items must be picked up at the Nancy Byng Community Theater on Monday, Dec. 15 between noon and 6:00 p.m. Only items that can fit in a standard letter sized envelope are able to be mailed. If you live out of the area, you must coordinate with someone local to pick up your item(s). Email theater.aspi@gmail.com to confirm who will be picking up your items. If your item contains alcohol, the individual picking up the item must be 21 years or older. Delivery is not included unless prior authorization is received. Email theater.aspi@gmail.com if you are not available for pick-up. Items not picked up in a timely manner will be donated to future ASPI fundraisers.
