Description

Chester County, PA. 11x14". This barn, built in the late 1790s, is one of my favorite stories to tell in my fundraisers. Abigail Rice, a bona-fide heroine of the American Revolution, took food and supplies to the wounded and sick troops in the winter of 1777-1778 at Valley Forge, only a mile from the barn. Her gravestone read, "Some have children. Some have none. Here lies the mother of 21." Well maintained today as a riding academy. This painting can be seen at the Shalersville Historical Society, located in Shalersville, Oh. Call with questions 740 389-0598
