Emma Violand-Sanchez, who is of bolivian origian and the key note speaker for this years Edu-Futuro Gala, has generously donated this memoir, co-written with David Bearinger, detailing her life as an immigrant from Bolivia to the U.S. in 1961, her career as an educator and advocate for immigrant students, and her experiences with personal tragedy, single motherhood, and bicultural identity. The book explores themes of faith, service, acculturation, and the challenges and triumphs of the immigrant experience, advocating for community and understanding across cultures.
