Spuds Fish & Chips on Alki beach in West Seattle has the best fish & chips in the Seattle area! English-born brothers Jack and Frank Alger opened SPUD FISH & CHIPS on Alki Beach in June of 1935 and right in the midst of the depression and when 10 cents could buy a paper boat stuffed with fries and two big pieces of breaded cod. In late fall the stand would close for the winter. Following the war, the original building was replaced with a modern building featuring portholes, and has since grown to become a two-storied anchor for visitors to Alki beach. Enjoy fish & chips as you watch the boats and ferries skimming across Puget Sound, walk along the beach, and hear the sound of the sea gulls overhead.
