Description
Jefferson County, WV. 11x14". York Hill Farm, where this 200-year-old stone barn still stands, is located in Shenandoah Junction, in the eastern panhandle of the state, only nine miles from Harpers Ferry, where abolitionist John Brown staged his famous raid on October 16, 1859, the ominous preface to the Civil War. And, yes, soldiers of the North and South both traveled through this county. Yet the barn survived; its stonework is magnificent, the trademark of a master stonemason. This painting can be seen at the Morgan County Historical Society, located in McConnelsville, Oh. Call with questions 740 962-4785
