Description
Learn the meaning of Adinkra symbols; some pronunciations in the tonal Twi language; about the land, culture, the famous kinte cloth, and so much more. This new 75 page resource book, full of interesting images was written by the late Dr. Beryle Banfield, an African American educator. Published by Edward Blyden Press , an African American press founded by Dr. A. Faulkner Watts and Banfield in 1981, the press and this book are out of print. They are part of the rich tradition of Black educator initiatives to change the then popular media depiction of Africa in children's textbooks as simply and briefly: “The Dark Continent.” A wonderful gift, family resource, or part of a rare book collection.
