The Dr. Warren House

"Images of America Hanover" book by Barbara Barker and Leslie Molyneaux that says the following:

"Antique expert Wallace Nutting called this home at 240 Washington St. in the Four Corners the first split-level house in America. The house began as a small Cape in 1810, lower wings were added later. There are fireplaces on four levels. It is named for Dr. Ira Warren who lived in the house in the 1830s and is best known for his book The Household Physician."
