"The Kilns of New Castle County"

This colorful fieldstone barn, a small garden variety of the English three-bay style, dates to 1809 and lies within the Eastburn-Jeanes Lime Kilns Historic District, which was listed on the National Register in 1977. The story involves the family's entry into the early lime industry of the 19th-century and its many lime kilns.
