I feel like this piece can show so much, while showing so little. The cake doesn't exactly look like a cake you'd find at a party but rather more neutral and less colorful. This relates to life and how life doesn't always have it's ups and downs, but also has less joyous parts to it.  Even with this, the cherries pop out, giving it color. This shows even the smallest things can make a great change.
