From the 1950’s until about 1990, the state of Maine used vertical town line signs like these to mark the boundaries between municipalities. You can still find them in some areas of the state, but most have been replaced in order to meet modern federal highway standards.
The signs you see here are created and painted using the Maine Town Line font, making them about as authentic as you can get.
