Description
-8" x10" oil on canvas TPBOTWC #36 (The precarious balance of things we create) From the artist: This work is from a series of paintings titled with the acronym TPBOTWC: The precarious balance of things we create. The acronym references the paintings themselves, as creations of color, shape, and form. The precarious balance of things we create also brings to mind the demands put upon us just to exist in the world. There are so many moving parts in life, and we are all just trying to fit everything together. The forms in these paintings often fit together like a puzzle, and while I'm working I am trying to find a balance within the painting. Painting allows me to escape from the everyday world and I hope that the work can offer an escape, sanctuary, or joy for the viewer. Greg Piwonka is a local artist that predominantly paints with oils. His work can be found at Martha’s here in Austin. Earlier this year, his work was shown at Half Gallery in NYC. He is also dad to Iggy in Kinder and River in 5th grade. They are new to Blackshear this year!
